Designing a sheet metal component or product which can be manufactured from one piece is nearly always the most effective way to produce a product. However this is not always possible, for example when two gauges of metal thickness are used or it is inefficient in terms of cost and time to punch the shape from one piece of sheet metal, therefore requiring your final product to be welded in order to finish.
There are several different types of welding; we use MIG (Metal Inert Gas Welding) MAG (Metal Active Gas Welding) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas Welding).
TIG uses a similar system where electrodes produce an arc but a TIG is normally used on filled metals and the welding area is protected from atmospheric contamination by an inserted shield gas normally argon or helium. The arc needs a contact current which produces a column of highly ionized gas and metal vapors known as plasma that is then used to bond the two pieces together.
MJM Fabrication based in Heathrow London are able to offer our customers several choices when it comes to welding which are suitable for a wide range of applications. We are able to Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG) & Metal Active Gas Welding (MAG) & Tungsten Inert Gas welding (TIG).
